Since its founding in 1969, our museum has been at the forefront of cultural empowerment for more than 65 million Latinos nationwide. The Gala directly supports our mission to present and preserve the art and culture of Puerto Ricans, Latinos, and Latin Americans in the United States through our ever-expanding Permanent Collection, critically acclaimed exhibitions, innovative programs, and bilingual education initiatives.
This year, we will celebrate Juan Beckmann, family owner of the Jose Cuervo brand of tequila, in recognition and appreciation of their longstanding and generous support of El Museo, and Coco Fusco, an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and distinguished professor at the Cooper Union whose work has offered sharp commentary on the power dynamics and politics of cultural representation, war, race, and gender for nearly 30 years.
