DURING YOUR VISIT
Vaccination required. In accordance with New York City requirements, all visitors 5 years of age and older must demonstrate proof of receiving full vaccination against COVID-19.
Face coverings are required. All visitors over the age of two are strongly encouraged to wear a face covering upon entry and throughout your visit.
Maintain physical distancing. Visitors should stay at least six feet (about two arms’ length) from others and groups.
Please follow directions from El Museo staff. Visitor capacity is controlled and reduced in Museum galleries.
Raphael Montañez Ortiz – A Contextual Retrospective

The eight-decade retrospective dedicated to artist, educator, and founder of El Museo del Barrio, Raphael Montañez Ortiz, a pioneer in the US neo avant-garde, is the largest exhibition-to-date dedicated to the artist. In contextual relations with peers working in Europe, Latin America and the US, the show spans narratives around identity, decolonization, and ethno-aesthetics.

Located at in New York City’s historic neighborhood of El Barrio (East Harlem), El Museo del Barrio is easily accessible by bicycle, car, and public transportation.
El Museo’s main entrance is fully accessible via wheelchair via a ramp located located on the right-side of the stairs on 5th Avenue.
