The Museum of Pocket Art

Founded by artist Robert Jackson Harrington, the Museum of Pocket Art (MoPA) emerged from the idea “that everyone should carry a small artwork in a pocket to enrich their day and share with others.”Since then, with Jackson Harrington as its executive director, MoPA has featured over 200 artists, whose pocket-sized artworks are displayed in galleries ranging from wallets to mobile devices. Carrying the shows in their physical pockets, MoPA representatives offer individuals the opportunity to visit the museum in an intimate and collaborative exchange that often takes place during openings and exhibitions held at other art venues. A curated retrospective of MoPA’s seventeen-year history is on display here. Additionally, three new exhibitions by invited artists will be on rotating view every two months within El Museo’s gallery spaces and will be presented by docents.

Fundado por el artista Robert Jackson Harrington, el Museum of Pocket Art (Museo de Arte de Bolsillo; MoPA) surgió de la idea de “que todo el mundo debería llevar una pequeña obra de arte en el bolsillo para enriquecer su día y compartirla con los demás”. Desde entonces, con Jackson Harrington como director ejecutivo, el MoPA ha presentado a más de 200 artistas, cuyas obras de arte de bolsillo se exponen en galerías que van desde carteras hasta dispositivos móviles.
