Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop at this year’s Uptown Bounce, an eclectic series of free summer block parties presented by the Museum of the City of New York, El Museo del Barrio, and The Africa Center. In its 10th year, the series will once again feature top DJs, special guests, live performances, art-making activities, and more.
At El Museo del Barrio, we will give space and celebrate the significant contributions of the Nuyorican community to Hip Hop from its origins until today.
On the second night, dance to DJ Perly (6-8 PM), the first woman to win the US Finals of the DMC annual DJ battle in 2017 and 2022; and mixtape king DJ Doo Wop (8-9 PM), whose mix 95 Live! is considered the greatest mixtape of its era. Practice your graffiti writing skills with us by tagging black books and postal stickers. Each night we will have a dominos competition hosted by Capicu! the Party.
