Join Justin Favela, Yvette Mayorga, and Dionis Ortiz for the first in a series of conversations that bring together participating artists from ESTAMOS BIEN – LA TRIENAL 20/21 . Moderated by Curator Susanna V. Temkin, the artists will discuss how their practices engage, subvert, and build upon legacies of craft, decorative arts, and other vernacular languages. Addressing Mayorga’s pasteleria-influenced paintings, Favela’s piñata murals, and Ortiz’s large-scale sculptural installations repurposing flooring materials, the conversation will address notions of labor, gender, and domesticity in their works on view at El Museo.
