Hola! El Museo is excited to host Coquí Club, our bilingual program for our tiniest visitors at El Museo del Barrio for an IN-PERSON experience at the museum! Coquí Club is an interactive program facilitated by our museum educators and includes storytelling, discussion, and an art-making project. Be sure to bring your Coqui crowns and get ready to have fun!

Join us Saturday, February 3rd for a celebration of Black History Month and to learn about the influence of Machito and His Afro-Cubans, one of the bands who helped invent Latin Jazz and popularize mambo music and dance in the 1940s. We will read ¡Mambo Mucho Mambo! The Dance That Crossed Color Lines by Dean Robbins, and learn how Machito, Tito Puente and others brought Mambo to NYC’s Palladium Ballroom, creating a space where all people could dance together!

All Coquis are invited to discover the vibrant rhythms and melodies that have shaped generations, exploring the heritage of Afro-Latinx culture and groove to the irresistible beats of Mambo! Let’s come together to celebrate the magic of music and movement!

Free Admission. | To RSVP, click here.
Please note new start times. Preregistration is required. Due to space limitations, if you reserve a spot and are unable to join, please cancel your registration in advance so spots can open for others. Please register each child separately. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
