EL MUSEO AS CLASSROOM / CITY AS SCHOOL

September 10, 2014 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm

FREE, RSVP

Come ready to play! Educators and community partners throughout New York City are invited to rethink the concept of museums and cities as sites for educational experiences.  El Museo as Classroom / City as School seeks to kindle conversations between educators and community partners, while engaging all participants in a hands-on, mixed media workshop centered on active learning.

This event pays homage to the founder of City and Country School, Caroline Pratt, and her groundbreaking contributions to progressive education; and to Raphael Montañez Ortíz, El Museo del Barrio’s founder and seminal artistic figure, and his emphasis on the pedagogical role of this cultural organization.
