MEMBERS EVENT | MODERNO: Design for Living in Brazil, Mexico, and Venezuela, 1940–1978
April 15, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
RSVPMEMBERS are invited to join Gabriela Rangel, Director of Visual Arts at the Americas Society, and Jorge Rivas, guest curator of the exhibition, for a guided tour of Moderno: Design for Living in Brazil, Mexico, and Venezuela, 1940–1978 at the Americas Society on Wednesday, April, 15. The show examines how design, one of the most innovative chapters in the history of Latin American modernism, transformed the domestic landscape in those countries. It brings together a representative group of objects, including furniture, ceramics, metalwork, textiles, and printed material—many exhibited for the first time. Some of the designers whose work is featured are: Miguel Arroyo, Lina Bo Bardi, Geraldo de Barros, Gego, Cristina Merchán, Oscar Niemeyer Clara Porset , Joaquim Tenreiro, Tecla Tofano, Michael van Beuren and Cornelis Zitman, among others.
Space is Limited. Please RSVP to SpecialEvents@ElMuseo.org before April 13th. Entrance is open and free for Young International Circle Level Members and above + 1 guest. Want to join us? Become a Member of El Museo TODAY and receive an invitation for you and a guest to exhibition previews, tours and off-site visits such as these.
