Calling all DIVAS! Join El Museo del Barrio as we host Dia de las Divas, our annual Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) fundraiser featuring a live performance by artist and musician Princess Nokia. This year’s event is inspired by the brilliance and contributions of Latinas to the art world and our communities-at-large.
DIA DE LAS DIVAS will feature an altar by artist Isabella Cruz-Chong addressing borders and the lives lost in crossing; an artist intervention by the Fortoul Brothers; culinary treats by Side Park Café; specialty cocktails by El Jimador Tequila; and beer provided by Brooklyn Brewery.
DRESS CODE: Diva Drama, Golden Halos, Kiss My Calavera looks, Serious Lips please, Dangerous Smoky Eyes, Floral Extravaganza, Deepest Velvets, Muerto Elegante, Gasping Corsets, Destiny Track Suits and of course Queen Crowns.
Be sure to take part in this year’s amazing silent auction featuring items kindly donated by Monica Sordo Jewelry, Reina Rebelde, Urban Decay, Widow Jane Bourbon, Raaka chocolate, FourteenJay Salon Tribeca, Aveda, El Quinto Pino, Rosie’s Restaurant, Lo & Sons Luggage, Palo Santo Restaurant, Jet Blue, and vacation trips to Mexico provided by the Mexico Tourism Board. Works of art will also be donated by artists A.F. Cortes, Edel Rodriguez, and Tamara Santibañez. A part of the proceeds from the silent auction will go towards relief efforts in Mexico and Puerto Rico.
