THE EL MUSEO FUND
Since 1969, El Museo del Barrio has inspired audiences to appreciate and deepen their understanding of the art and culture of Latinx in the United States. With more than 8,000 objects, El Museo’s Permanent Collection is rooted in work by the Puerto Rican artists of our founding community, and has grown to include art from diverse Caribbean,
Latinx, and Latin American cultures. A pioneer in the museum world, El Museo enjoys a number of achievements.
We are the first Latinx and Latin American museum of art in the United States.
We are the first museum in the nation to institutionalize
bilingual arts education.
We are the first to organize a survey (Biennial/Triennial) exhibition series promoting Latinx artists.
In support of our efforts to build upon the Museum’s incredible legacy in local communities and the art world, we invite you to donate to the El Museo Fund, a major source of funding for the Museum’s general operating expenses. Gifts to the Fund provide critical support to mount groundbreaking exhibitions, conserve and expand the Permanent Collection, expand our renowned educational and community partnerships for all ages, and present thought-provoking public programming.
Your tax-deductible donation to the El Museo Fund is essential to the vitality of the Museum and ensures that the El Museo remains the leading cultural institution representing Latino and Latin American art and culture in the country. For further information, please email or call 212.831.7272.
