THE MATERIALITY OF MEMORY:
Through painting and an exploration of senses such as touch, smell, and sound, participants decorated the box surfaces and made small sculptural interventions inside the boxes to create their own “mini installations”. Their sensory boxes are a platform to share the unique ways that materials carry meaning for each student, highlighting their individuality and inviting us to extract the stories and imagined spaces significant to them.
