Brian Nissen: Bronze Sculptures
East Gallery and Project Wall January 29 - March 31, 1998
Brian Nissen, a British artist
was born in 1939, went to Mexico at age 23 and stayed for 17 yearsówith
frequent visits since. Taking this experience as a starting point, Nissen
has developed an extensive body of work inspired by great cultural myths
and history. The glyph, the codex, and the temple are three pre-Columbian
forms that inspire his work. Nissen's sculptures often evoke organic and
archetectonic forms, shapes and spaces with a poetic sense of landscape.
This exhibition will feature bronze sculptures from different series he
has developed over the last five years.
