THE FUTURO ES…
6:00pm – 8:30pm | 104th Street
What is the future of our neighborhood? Can you imagine what it will look like? Will there be buildings that fly? Skyscrapers taller than the sky? Bodegas that transform into robots to deliver your food? Our neighborhood is constantly changing, let’s build our future together!
6:00pm – 9:00pm | El Café
An exhibition highlighting the contradiction of Urban Renewal of 1930s/1940s response with ‘Slum Clearance’ for better housing versus the Urban Decay and abandonment that followed the influx of African American & Puerto Ricans migrants decades later into the very same neighborhoods. Featuring works by Joe Conzo and Joseph Rodriguez. Musical guests: A Party Called Rosie Perez.
6:00pm – 9:00pm | Black Box Theater (3rd Floor)
An exhibition mimicking The Caribbean Social Club (or Puerto Rican social club) in Williamsburg, as an ode to its owner and founder, Tonita. Representing spaces that will be hidden in plain sight as a safe haven for the future Latinx community. Featuring original works by Sociedad Collective: Christian Mártir, Amy Collado, Bembona, Mario Rubén Carrión, Woofie Colon and Daviston Jeffers, M. Tony Peralta and Adrian ‘Viajero’ Roman.
