From New York’s Pop Art scene to Venezuela’s folk traditions and Argentina’s Otra Figuración, learn more about Marisol’s unique influences. Deborah Cullen, Chief Curator, Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Art Gallery, Columbia University, and Kalliope Minioudaki, Feminist Art Historian, join us for a lively discussion about the artists and movements that came together in Marisol’s distinctive approach and her use of assemblage. The conversation will be moderated by El Museo’s Curator Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, and will begin at 6:30pm.
Immediately prior to the discussion, be sure to check out the special film screening of Andy Warhol’s experimental film, The Kiss (1963; 54 minutes) with a special cameo by Marisol, a long-time muse and friend of Warhol’s at 5:30pm.
