Artist Educators guide visitors through our exhibitions. This month, El Museo kicks off its Super Sabado Family Tour offered at 11:00am in English. All afternoon tours are offered in both English and in Spanish. Space is limited, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Los artistas educadores guiarán al público por nuestras bellas galerías.

SOUNDS OF CARNAVAL

The Candombe Jazz Project and Capoeira Arts Dance group together in concert! In celebration of the cultural traditions and musical contributions of the African Diaspora in Latin America, Candombe Jazz Project features Candombe, a drum based musical style from Uruguay that originated among the African population and is played on the streets, halls, and carnivals of the country. The Capoeira Arts Dance musical group presents exciting dances and sounds from northern Brazil, where African influences are strongest. Afro-Brazilian dance is full of spontaneous, soulful, and energetic movement that will energize your body and spirit.

OH, SNAP! Young Powerful Voices at Work

The Peace Poets, a community-based arts collective from New York City, facilitates a two-hour spoken word workshop for teens.

Edwin Torres and guest poets Sandra María Estevez, Urayoan Noel, and Guillermo Rebollo-Gil host an evening of politically-bodified in the old-new lengua school that will be sure to shake us up to speak!
