Once a month, El Museo del Barrio opens its doors to everyone interested in exploring the vibrancy and diversity of Latino Culture. Through free concerts, exhibitions, gallery tours, art making workshops, walking tours, film screenings, and Spoken Word recitals, SUPER SABADO! showcases traditions, cultural expressions, and the latest in Latino art.

Artist Educators guide visitors through our current exhibitions. A morning tour is offered at 11:00am in English, and two afternoon tours are offered in both English and Spanish. Space is limited, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. 

 

Art Making Workshop

Come to our Taller to create your own mini cardboard suitcase and decorate it with color tissue paper, sequins, jewels, and other fun materials!

Become a citizen of El Museo! Take your passport photo with family and friends.  Once you’re back home, you can view and share your photos online at Flickr.

 

Storytelling

COLORIN COLORADO with Cindy’ Sugarush’ Casado

Local actress and comedian Cindy’ Sugarush’ Casado will read books about the immigrant experience from a child’s perspective.

SHH – Silent Short Films From Around the World

Bring your whole family and share this entertaining program of silent short films from all around the world, which speak … the global language of art! 

 

Spoken Word Workshop

OH, SNAP! Young Powerful Voices at Work

Local arts collective The Peace Poets hosts a two-hour spoken word workshop for teens.

Join the phenomenal women of MAHINA MOVEMENT—Las Gallas, Ollin Imagination, RedNex, and Poetry Squad—for a fabulous evening of poetry, activism, music, and multimedia presentations.

Learn the dances of the African Diaspora in the Caribbean and explore the dynamics of movement and style. For children 6 – 8 years of age.
