The artists have been invited to install their nomadic urban dolmen on the site of this garden, newly renovated by the city, and formerly functioning as a community garden. In conjunction with this presentation will be a group of new "drawing sculptures" based on the cryptic surveyor street markings found throughout the city.
El Museo's Bienal: The (S) Files 2011 @ NYRP
This series of performances and temporary, site-specific installations draws from our exhibition, El Museo's Bienal: The (S) Files/The Street Files. Capturing the unique energy of innovative contemporary Latino and Latin American artists based in the greater New York area, El Museo's Bienal: The [S] Files reinforces the museum's commitment to emerging artists by fostering an inclusive, ever-broadening group of artist-stakeholders, expands the definition of contemporary art and nurtures development of groundbreaking work. This program features three performances and three temporary installations set in Community Gardens in East Harlem and the South Bronx.
