Retro/Active: The Work of Rafael Ferrer

The first solo exhibition in a museum to examine the breadth and depth of the artist’s influential production over the last 55 years, this travelling retrospective is part of El Museo’s FOCOS series, which highlights the work of mature, under-recognized, and groundbreaking artists.

Explore the history of Latino art and El Museo in this exhibition housed in the Carmen Ana Unanue Galleries, featuring artwork and memorabilia from our Permanent Collection and archives. Works on view range from ancient Taíno artifacts to cutting-edge conceptual art.

The dynamic group of community artists that fuses salsa, Afro-Cuban, West African, hip hop, and abstract dance-theater will offer an outdoor interactive workshop to get the audience moving, followed by a dance performance.
