El Grito de Poetas
El Grito de Poetas, featuring Advocate of Wordz, Chance, Chilo, Majestik Originality, True, Tito, and Simply Rob, is a collective of diverse poets dedicated to the craft and performance of modern poetry. With their Latin roots and culture entrenched deeply within urban NYC, they are firmly committed to spreading knowledge of their various cultures and traditions through a contemporary style of spoken word. El Grito de Poetas empowers their audiences by connecting with them through past experiences and love for the community as Latin poets renewing the fervor of an oral tradition of yesterday.

About this Series
Celebrating the power and art of the spoken word in Nueva York, El Museo del Barrio presents established and emerging Latino/a poets with a unique platform for expression; and audiences with some of the most inspiring voices from our community. Each evening of Speak Up!/Speak Out! features an exciting line-up curated and hosted by award-winning poet Emanuel Xavier. Before each presentation, audience members are encouraged to enter a raffle in which five winners will have the opportunity to grab the mic and share one of their own poems up on the stage.
