COMPOSERS NOW!: Arturo en el Barco and áltaVoz
In collaboration with Composers Now El Museo is thrilled to present cutting-edge Puerto Rico-born composer Angélica Negrón, who brings us an evening of new music by young Latin American composers. Her ambient chamber ensemble Arturo en el Barco will perform for the first time the music written by Negrón for the theater piece Alejandro which will be accompanied by the performance on masks and puppets of Julio Morales from the Puerto Rican theater company Y No Había Luz. The piece explores playful electro-acoustic soundscapes for strings, horn, accordion, toys, voice and electronics through an enchanting narrative about inescapable loneliness. The group will also perform pieces by áltaVoz composers Mauricio Pauly, José Luis Hurtado, Jorge Grossman, Felipe Lara & Pedro Malpica. The performance will be followed by a Q&A with the artists.
