Super Sabado! Target Free Third Saturdays at El Museo

November, 2009 - El Museo del Barrio kicks-off a new series of day-long free cultural programs, to be held the Third Saturdays of each month from November 2009 through August 2010.  Super Sábado welcomes everyone interested in exploring the vibrancy and diversity of Latino culture through free concerts, exhibitions, gallery tours, art making workshops, walking tours, film screenings, and spoken word.

Día de Los Muertos

October, 2009 - El Museo marks Día de los Muertos with a free, full day of performances, events and public programs, including a special performance by Mexican actress Susana Alexander.

El Museo’s Young International Circle Celebrates Día de los Muertos with a flavor of Carnaval

October, 2009- El Museo del Barrio will host its seventh annual Young International Circle (YIC) Benefit on Friday, October 30, 2009.  This year’s edition of the popular event, which once a year brings together young, high-profile arts supporters from New York, Latin America, and Europe,  will celebrate the age-old traditions of Día de los Muertos with a flavor of Carnaval.

October, 2009 - El Museo del Barrio, reopens Saturday, October 17, 2009 with an all-day open house celebrating the newly renovated facilities, the launch of the new Carmen Ana Unanue Galleries, and the museum’s 40th Anniversary.

Great Performances and El Museo del Barrio Unite at el Cafe

September, 2009 – Following an extensive search among the city’s finest caterers, Great Performances has been tapped to operate EL CAFE in the newly renovated El Museo del Barrio, following a multi-million dollar renovation and expansion that includes a lively café  to seat 120 people.
