El Museo's annual gala morphed into a fashion pow-wow for 2011. The culprit was the night's guest of honor, superstar photographer Mario Testino. The international fashion world tuned out in full force to support Testino who was presented with a lifetime artistic achievement award celebrating his 30-year career. Yaz and Valentin Hernandez chaired the glamorous soiree with Alex Gonzalez and Raul Martinez of advertising agency AR New York and raised $1,000,000 for the museum.

El fotógrafo Mario Testino fue reconocido por su trabajo a través de la Gala Anual de El Museo del Barrio. Acompañado de sus amigos más cercanos y admiradores. El evento se llevó acabo en el clásico Cipriani y sirvió para recaudar fondos para dicha institución cultural latina en Nueva York. Yaz Hernández da la bienvenida a Mario, ella junto con su esposo Valentín fueron encargados de presidir y ser los anfitriones de esta gala. “El Museo del Barrio representa una expresión de cultura a nivel internacional y nuestra Gala así lo refleja. En donde se reunen invitados de todo el mundo en una fiesta de mucho estilo y una fuente de enorme orgullo para la comunidad latina” comenta Yaz.

A lot of chic people gave up the Thursday evening before their holiday weekend for this event: Anna Wintour and a few of her staff from Vogue; Stefano Tonchi of W Magazine; Carine Roitfeld, formerly of French Vogue; Tamara Mellon of Jimmy Choo; Stephen Gan of Visionaire and Harper's Bazaar. Many of them formed a line to pay their respects to the fashion designer Donatella Versace, who also attended the party. There were celebrities, too, including Josh Hartnett and Kate Winslet.

The event in question was the annual gala for El Museo Del Barrio, which this year honored photographer Mario Testino, who received his award from a stunning (of course) Kate Winslet. Everyone wanted to ask Testino, though, about another famous Kate—the former Kate Middleton, Duchess Catherine, whose official royal-wedding photos Testino shot last month. He had nothing but fond things to say about the couple, and about Princess Diana, whose wedding portraits he took three decades ago. How does he keep his photos fresh after all these years?
