These highlights reflect the breadth and diversity of Caribbean, Latino and Latin American art, including Modern and Contemporary Art; Graphics; Popular Traditions, focusing on Santos de Palo, masks and other devotional objects; and Taino pre-Columbian materials. In addition, over the next two years the site will provide various interpretive resources linked to the objects, including related texts, media, bibliographic information, as well as lesson plans and activities designed for K-12 educators.

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

The works collected by El Museo are at the heart of our mission as a museum and cultural center. Now 6,500 objects strong, the collection is rooted in work by the Puerto Rican artists of our founding community, and has grown to include art from diverse Caribbean, Latino, and Latin American cultures.
