Programs and Series english tabs

From film and video to literary arts, from visual arts to architecture and design, El Museo del Barrio New York offers a full calendario of public programs for all audiences. Explore Latin American and Caribbean art and culture with writers, artists, scholars, critics, and other creative thinkers. Live performance, artist talks, panel discussions, and film screenings are all part of the nonstop cultural mix. Here are some of our most popular series:

VOCES: CONVERSATIONS WITH LATINO ARTISTS
This series of curator-moderated artist talks aims to explore the complexities of Latino contemporary art. Talks feature artists from current exhibitions in dialogue with El Museo’s curators.

NUEVO CINE: Recent Films from Latin America
Every first Wednesday of the month
In Latin America, Wednesday nights are traditionally movie night. Here, we revive that custom, with screenings on the first Wednesday of each month featuring new films and videos from the Americas.

BARRIO BOOK CLUB
Every second Tuesday of the month
In collaboration with La Casa Azul Bookstore, El Museo presents Barrio Book Club, an opportunity for book-lovers to come together and discuss books written in English by Latino writers . Each session includes a live Q&A with the authors.

LIBROFORUM
El primer miércoles de cada mes
El Museo presenta Libroforum, un espacio abierto al diálogo y la reflexión sobre obras literarias de la lengua española.

Spoken Word
SPEAK UP! / SPEAK OUT!
Every third Saturday of the month
El Museo del Barrio’s monthly spoken word series Speak Up! / Speak Out! features an exciting line-up of Latino poets who have voiced their minds in speakeasies and small clubs around the city. Each evening is organized and hosted by a guest poet. After the performances, the audience is encouraged to grab the mic and speak up!
