Spanning the 20th century (1933-2003), this exhibition introduces to New York more than 50 works by 30 artists exploring the pictorial representation of merengue, the genre of music and dance that has come to define Dominican culture and identity. Presented concurrently with This Skin I’m In: Contemporary Dominican Art from El Museo del Barrio’s Permanent Collection.
