The Art of Jack Delano
East and Alegría Galleries November 14,1998 to February 28,1999 This exhibition is the first to bring together the complete range of Jack Delano's (1914-1997) artistic endeavors for a national tour. It features an insightful examination of the photographs, portraits, interiors, and landscapes that Delano contributed to the Farm Security Administration (FSA). The exhibition traces the continuing social themes that inform all these works by considering these New Deal documents with selections from the film stills, posters, and book illustrations Delano made in Puerto Rico over the last fifty years. The Art of Jack Delano has been organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service with the generous support of Banco Popular. El Museo del Barrio is grateful to Banco Popular, and Antonio Roig Ferré/Fundación de Arte Sacro and Christina Roig Morris, for additional support for the presentation of this exhibition.
