El Museo del Barrio is the nation’s first Latin American museum of art. Its mission is to present and preserve the art and culture of Latin Americans in the United States and internationally. In addition to exhibitions of contemporary, traditional, and folk art, El Museo is expanding its curatorial purview to include architecture, design, fashion, the moving image, and the performing and literary arts.

CORPORATE VISIBILITY
El Museo serves 200,000 people annually through its exhibitions, education and public programs. We are the only New York museum in which the city’s predominant minority comprises the majority of its visitors: 60% of the museum’s audience is of Latin American heritage, and as many as 80% of our education and public programs are Spanish-speaking, low- and moderate- income families from the New York City metropolitan area.

Corporate support enables El Museo to continue to fulfill its mission, welcoming visitors of all backgrounds to discover the artistic landscape of Latin American cultures from throughout the hemisphere.

Corporate sponsorship of the museum’s activities can provide your company with exceptional marketing and creative branding opportunities around our exhibitions, education and public programs, cultural celebrations and yearly fundraising events.

The museum’s Curatorial Department cares for one of the largest collections of Caribbean and Latin American art in the United States and organizes renowned temporary exhibitions. With over 8,000 objects, its diverse holdings divide into four main areas: modern and contemporary art; graphics; Taíno/Pre-Columbian, pan-Caribbean archeological objects, as well as contemporary works influenced by the Taíno legacy.

Exhibition sponsors are ensured prominent recognition for their support. Benefits typically include:

El Museo’s education and public programs are shaped by a single umbrella concept—THE CURIOUS LIFE—an education initiative designed to encourage inquisitiveness through philosophical methods in reflective and critical thinking. Our public programs, which encompass annual Cultural Celebrations and monthly Family Programs, include Super Sábado Free Third Saturdays from September through May, a Día de los Muertos celebration in October, the Three Kings Day Parade in January and the Museum Mile Festival in June.

Our education programs include classroom residencies, guided tours, hands-on workshops, access partnerships for special-needs groups, and professional development for educators. El Museo continues to expand its access partnerships—including the Arts & Minds program for visitors with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, and increased school programs for students with autism spectrum disorder. Without our exhibitions and public programs, thousands of people would lose valuable arts education opportunities.

Sponsorship of our education and public programs may include the following:

  • Prominent naming of programming with logo and brand recognition at each session
  • Opportunity for recognition on all materials relating to programming
  • Branded volunteer opportunities at programming for corporate employees and guests

Celebrating its 23rd year, The Gala is El Museo’s single most important fundraising event of the year. It raises essential support for the museum’s critically acclaimed exhibitions and valued public and educational programs. Funds raised at the Gala enable El Museo to continue their important work and keep expanding the scope of their reach.

This spectacular event brings together luminaries from the worlds of fashion, entertainment, business, society, politics, and the arts. El Museo’s Gala has received extensive press coverage, both nationally and internationally, from The New York Times, Vogue, Vanity Fair, W Magazine, Town & Country, New York Magazine, Women’s Wear Daily, The New York Observer, New York Social Diary and many others.
